Looking for a fun way to keep the family entertained while ringing in the New Year? Get these printable New Year’s Eve Charades cards and keep the good times rolling! There’s no better way to start a new year than with fun and laughter from family and friends.
Can you believe the year is almost over? The older I get, the faster each year seems to go by. But age aside, many of us stay up late on New Year’s Eve to ring in the new year with our loved ones.
If midnight is past your bedtime, staying up to greet the new year may be a bit challenging. And for others, maybe it’s just boring to sit and wait for the clock to strike midnight. Not this year!
Try playing New Year’s Eve Charades with your family and friends, using these free printable cards. No matter how the current year has treated you, say goodbye to the past and hello to the new year with fun and laughter from family.
How to Play:
Divide the family into 2 teams. You can either place all the charades cards in a single pile and randomly choose a card as you go, or the charades cards are color coded with black and gold outlines, so you could split them up. Black cards for the black team and gold cards for the gold team.
(Note that there are 14 black cards and 13 gold cards. If playing by card color, you may want to choose one of the black cards to be excluded from play.)
Each team takes a turn with one person from the team randomly choosing a charades card. That one player is the only person allowed to see what’s on the card. That same player uses body movement and hand gestures to act out what’s on the card. Meanwhile, the rest of the team tries to guess what their teammate is acting out. If the team guesses correctly, they earn a point.
Keep in mind that each turn only has a certain amount of time to guess the charade. The typical time limit is 3 minutes, but you can change it up for whatever works for your family. If the team runs out of time without guessing the correct answer, they do not earn a point.
Once all of the charades cards have been acted out, the team with the most points, wins.
Happy New Year!
