It’s no surprise to me that parents today, including myself, try to get their kids away from screens and outside more. While I had video games as a kid, playing outside was still my favorite thing to do. Times have changed and sometimes I struggle to get my kids off of a screen. They get sucked into video games and tablets, and it’s like there’s nothing else in the world. It’s like when you binge a TV show and get so consumed in it, nothing else exists. Don’t lie…you’ve been there before. And then what do you do when the series is over?
Well, if you can’t get your kids out of the house, why not give them a game that’s beneficial? For me, one such game is My Brother Rabbit.
~I received a sample to help facilitate this post. As always, opinions are still 100% my own.~
My Brother Rabbit (from Artifex Mundi) is a video game with such a heartfelt story line, that easily touches gamers of all ages. When a family’s daughter contracts a serious illness, her brother uses their imagination and a stuffed toy rabbit to help her cope. The two children collectively dream of a gorgeous, Dali-inspired world paralleling their own. They bring their toy rabbit to life with a quest to save his friend flower.
It may sound elementary, but I really enjoyed playing it myself, as did my whole family. My Brother Rabbit is a great display of coping with real emotions through a child’s colorful imagination, and this is why I don’t mind if my kids get a little consumed with it. Besides, the whole game is filled with mind boggling puzzles and adventure, which is great for increasing their brain power.
It’s not a terribly long game, with just 5 levels, and could easily be finished in a few hours if you’re good at completing puzzles, paying attention (there are puzzle clues everywhere), have good memory, and especially skilled at seek and find. Quite honestly, I wish the game went on longer because I had so much fun playing. My son is now going through it a second time.
The game is rated E for everyone, and is available on a variety of gaming consoles – PC, PS4, Nintendo Switch, XBox One, and more. And guess what?! I have TWO chances for you to win it.
