We are officially past the halfway point of summer break and this Florida heat is killing us. It’s hard to spend any substantial amount of time outside without becoming unbelievably uncomfortable. So we’ve now turned to more indoor activities that still make summer break as fun as possible. One such activity was a trip to DEFY Fort Myers, where we took to the “skies” on trampolines, aerial silks and battle beams, just to name a few.
~I received complimentary admission to DEFY Fort Myers to help facilitate this post. As always, opinions are still 100% my own.~
When you’re looking for a fun indoor summer activity that the whole family can enjoy, DEFY should be at the top of your list. It’s definitely at the top of my family’s summer fun list. Earlier this week we visited our local DEFY location in Fort Myers and spent 2 hours of AIR CONDITIONED fun jumping on trampolines, battling each other on the battle beam, trying to make our way through the Ninja Obstacle Course, and swinging on aerial silks.
This panoramic photo does not do justice. DEFY is huge (over 40,000 square feet) and there’s so much fun to partake in.

During our visit to DEFY Fort Myers, I learned a few things. First of all, while it’s all for fun, some things are hard work! Whether you’re trying to keep your balance, hold your own weight on the swinging ropes and zip line, or climbing out of the foam pits, there’s no doubt you’re working your body.
Let’s just say, I’m not as strong as I thought I was and my arms have been sore for a few days.
Second, my son is a horrible cameraman. This isn’t necessarily DEFY related, but still a realization I had. Mom and dad took to the Battle Beam for a little friendly beat down of each other – Good for the relationship. Ya know, perfect for those times you just want knock each other out.
Anyways, my son was supposed to video it, and he did, but as soon as we starting trying to knock each other off the beam, his video consisted of nothing but legs. It looks like I have some videographer training to do.
And in case you’re wondering, I lost…
Last, if you need to wear your kids down and let them deplete all that energy they have, DEFY is the perfect place for them to do it. There is truly something for every age, from 1 to 92. Even my 14 month old had a blast jumping on the trampolines and playing in the foam pits.
Does DEFY Fit My Budget?
While everyone’s budget is different, I think that DEFY will easily fit in. When you go in for your first flight experience, each person is required to purchase a pair of grip socks, which are $3/pair. For my family of 5, that’s $15. Once you buy a pair, though, you can keep bringing them back with you and won’t incur that cost again (so long as the kids can keep their grip socks intact).
The pricing for how long you stay and enjoy DEFY is based on flight time.
- 1 hour: $12-$16
- 1.5 hours: $16-$21
- Max of 2 hours: $21-$25
The difference in pricing is dependent upon age. Ages 6 and under gain admission for the lower price and ages 7+ for the higher price. For my family’s 2 hour stay and taking our ages into consideration, our flight time would cost of $117.
Okay, let’s face it. That is not necessarily budget-friendly. My suggestion for making the most out of your budget is to visit during special discount flight times.
KidJump
One of those discount flight times is called KidJump, which takes place Mon-Sat from 9a-10a. This flight time is only for kids ages 6 and under, and offers smaller kids the chance to defy gravity without big kids getting in their way. During this hour, the kids get a special discount + 1 parent jumps free with the child. That’s basically 2-for-1 with a discount on top of that.
Family Night
Family Night is another great opportunity to save. Monday nights from 6p-9p, you can take your WHOLE family (whole family meaning immediate family), and jump for 1 hour for $45. An hour flight for my family of 5 would regularly cost $72, so family night provides us an almost $30 discount.
Flight Club
Probably my favorite way to save is with a Flight Club membership. With a regular Flight Club membership you can jump 1.5 hours every single day of the month, for just $20. Or with a Flight Club Elite membership, 2 hours every single day of the month, for just $25.
Seriously, we’re already paying these prices for a single day, so why not benefit more with the ability to jump EVERY. SINGLE. DAY? And I’ll tell you, after your first flight at DEFY you’re going to want to come back.
Earlier I calculated that for my family of 5, a single 2 hour flight time runs $117. Five Flight Club Elite memberships would cost us $125/month. So if we’re going to be going even twice a month, we’d be saving $109. If we went once a week for an entire month, we’d be saving $343! It’s a no-brainer.
OR if you’re not really interested in joining in on the fun yourself (I don’t know why you wouldn’t, but I’m sure it happens for different reasons), you can always just purchase admission for your kids and watch them from the upper level Parents Lounge. Talk about eyes in the sky!
