“Guac is extra.” Um, yea, I know that, but I want it anyways. I mean really, is there even a question about that, haha. I get this every single time I visit my favorite burrito spot. And after going the other day, I got to thinking. When I make tacos of any kind at home, I never have guacamole on them.
The reason is that I don’t like store bought guac and I’ve always thought it was too difficult or time consuming to make. While I still stand by my opinion of store bought guac, I was completely wrong about how easy it is to make. With this easy 6 ingredient guacamole recipe, I’ll never have a taco or chips without guac again.
I’m not going to lie. When I was making this recipe to photograph, the photos almost didn’t happen because I was eating the guacamole the entire time. It was a chips and guac kind of day and I went all in. But I managed to get a few good shots so you can see just how easy and delicious it really is.
Whether you want that extra-ness to your taco, burrito, nachos, chips, or are ready to celebrate Cinco De Mayo, this is hands down the easiest guacamole recipe you’ll ever try.
I always start by preparing all of the ingredients (full ingredient list and measurements below) so that once I get started it’s quick and easy going. I hate stopping to chop this or mince that. For this recipe you need avocados, diced tomato, diced red onion, chopped cilantro, minced garlic, and lime juice.
Next is cutting, peeling and pitting the avocados. Then placing them in a bowl, where you use a fork to smash them into a nice, smooth texture.
Then it’s simply a matter of adding and mixing in the rest of the ingredients. Once fully mixed, I also like to add a little salt to taste, but this is optional depending on your tastes.
- 3 ripe avocados
- ½ medium tomato (diced)
- ½ small red onion (diced)
- 2-3 tsp cilantro (chopped)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 lime (juiced)
- Salt (optional)
- Cut, peel and pit all 3 avocados, and place them in a bowl. Using a fork, smash them into a smooth texture.
- Add the tomato, onion, cilantro, garlic and lime juice to the bowl. Mix well.
- (Optional) Add salt to taste.
- Enjoy!
